A study by Cornell University found those who consumed above-average amounts of the antioxidant selenium drastically reduced the risk of pulmonary disease such as asthma, emphysema and bronchitis.

A starter of oysters once a week will boost your selenium, while ensuring you won`t be out of breath when their bedroom powers kick in. According to research leader Patricia A cassano, the positive pulmonary effect of the shellfish “is equivalent to the difference between non-smokers and people who have smoked a pack a day for 10 years,” which is more than enough for lung disease to be given the whoosh!
