A treadmill is an exercise machine that allows a person to walk, jog or run without actually covering any distance. The build and the structure of a treadmill can offer convenience of exercise where the user would not need to leave the confines of his or her home. The restriction of reduced space is no longer an impediment to a healthy exercise routine. Treadmills offer a variety of features and benefits and are available in a number of different sizes and costs. The complexity of the machine and the workout routine may require the need for a trainer, however one can purchase a simple machine that takes up little space and can offer excellent training at home.

A treadmill provides a smooth padded surface to run on that is easy on the joints and bones. One can exercise in their living room while watching the favorite television programme. Many treadmills have gadgets and instruments that record your heart beat speed and inclinations while you exercise, making it easy to know when to stop.

Like other complex cardiovascular exercises (similar to non-treadmill walking/running), treadmill training can improve endurance and provide a wide variety of health benefits.
